Dr. Annela Arredondo grew up in Falfurrias, Texas. After graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated with honors, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in biology in the year 2000.
While growing up, Dr. Arredondo’s grandmother was blind from glaucoma. This motivated her to pursue a career in optometry so that she could preserve the vision of others. She attended the University of Houston College of Optometry and received various awards for her clinical excellence. During her time at optometry school, she began doing missionary work in Honduras with Volunteering Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). There, she provided free eye exams to many who did not have vision care available. When she graduated in 2004, she opened her optometry practice in San Antonio.
With five years of experience, Dr. Arredondo is certified by the Texas Optometry Board as both a therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist. She is trained in the treatment and detection of ocular disease and has state-of-the-art exam equipment to provide comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages. She is also a participant of the Infant See program, which is sponsored by the American Optometric Association and provides free eye exams to children under the age of one.
