Optometrist Office — Optometrist in San Antonio, TX
Dr. Annela Arredondo grew up in Falfurrias, TX. After graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX, where she graduated with honors, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in biology in the year 2000.

While growing up, Dr. Arredondo’s grandmother was blind from glaucoma. This motivated her to pursue a career in optometry so that she could preserve the vision of others. She attended the University of Houston College of Optometry and received various awards for her clinical excellence. During her time at optometry school, she began doing missionary work in Honduras with Volunteering Optometric Services to Humanity where she provided free eye exams to many who did not have vision care available. When she graduated in 2004, she opened her optometry practice in San Antonio.

With many years of experience, Dr. Arredondo is certified by the Texas Optometry Board as both a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist.

She is trained in the treatment and detection of ocular disease and has state-of-the-art exam equipment to provide comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages. She is also a participant of the InfantSEE program which is sponsored by the American Optometric Association and provides free eye exams to children under the age of one.

Dr. Arredondo is an active member of the Bexar County Optometric Society, Volunteering Optometric Services to Humanity, the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She enjoys helping all of her patients with their individual visual needs whether that means glasses, contact lenses, LASIK or other refractive procedures. Ultimately, she prides herself on ensuring that each of her patients has a lifetime of healthy eyes. When not seeing patients, Dr. Arredondo enjoys traveling, running, cycling and spending time with her Maine Coon fur babies, Ace and Addie.

Dr. Arredondo has often been told by her patients that she has a caring personality and an excellent chairside manner.

However, to her, the highest compliment she receives from her patients is the referral of their family and friends. She realizes that no one likes coming to the doctor so she and her team try to make it a pleasant experience. As a cancer survivor, Dr. Arredondo understands firsthand the importance of effective doctor-patient communication, empathy and the importance of quality of life.

After having your eyes checked by Dr. Arredondo, it will become evident to you that she is genuinely compassionate about her field of work and each of her patients.
